Depression has become the hot medical issue of the 90s and it can be fatal. The disease is widespread and becoming more frequent among employees at all levels and in all professions.
Today's workers are 10 times as likely to suffer from serious episodes of depression than their grandfathers. It is now estimated that this deadly disease costs American businesses almost $44 million annually for treatment and in lost productivity. Obviously, depression is an illness which supervisors in all fields need to learn a lot more about.
