SHOPS selling golly dolls in Hastings and Rye have been branded 'inappropriate' by a holidaying Londoner.
During his annual visit to Camber, Chris Crooks spotted a selection of the black knitted toys in the window of a shop in Rye.
He says he and his children were 'deeply shocked and offended' that the dolls were on sale.
However, the shopkeeper has dismissed any suggestion the gollies are racially offensive.
