TWO young Castle Morpeth fencers have sharpened their skills at a Newcastle University training camp.
Giles Strachan, 18, from Morpeth and 12-year-old Richard Ennis, of Ponteland, have been put through their paces along with 15 other athletes aged between 11 and 18, with the help of top Great Britain coaches Iain Aberdeen and Paul Neil-MacLachlan.
The youngsters at the High Performance Fencing Camp ? the first event of its kind to be held in the North East ? took part in more than 25 hours of intensive training covering all aspects of the sport including bladework, footwork and tactics.
