A GROUP of veterans will call it a day when they hand in their official standard on Sunday.
Veterans from the Peterborough and District's Burma Star Association took the tough decision to lay down the historic standard as their numbers dwindle.
Many association members fought fearlessly in the dense jungles of India and Burma in the Second World War, and they still meet every month to keep their determined spirit alive.
But on Sunday, surviving members, including chairman Des Tuson MBE and secretary Jess Matthews, will march solemnly into Peterborough Cathedral to lay down the standard.
