A recent article in The Zimbabwean cited alarming statistics in a report by the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force that estimate Zimbabwe has lost 90 percent of its wildlife since the government began its controversial land redistribution program.
Johnny Rodrigues, author of the report, said wildlife had been nearly wiped out on the country's former private game ranches in the years since President Robert Mugabe began dividing these areas into smaller plots. The report documented evidence of widespread slaughter of game on the occupied private ranches.
