The president of Brittany Ferries has reaffirmed Portsmouth's importance to the company.
Jean-Marc Roue visited Gunwharf Quays signing a sponsorship agreement for the International Maritime Festival, which takes place in Brest, in Brittany.
Mr Roue was on board Brittany Ferries' tall ship Recouvrance, which was visiting from the French port to highlight Brest 2008.
Speaking through a translator, Mr Roue said: 'In Portsmouth we are connected with three different ports in France. It's very important for us to have good relations between France and Portsmouth.
