A MAJOR new [pounds sterling]10m residential development could be built in the city centre if council planning chiefs give it the go ahead.
Bell Developments Ltd has applied to Wakefield Council to build 160 apartments, spread over three blocks, on an area of land where Ings Road meets Kirkgate, next to the Grove Street junction.
The ambitious project will be one of the biggest new housing developments in the city centre this century.
Scheme bosses have already sent out information to local residents explaining the plan in a bid to get their backing.
