GAINSBOROUGH MP Edward Leigh has signed an Early Day Motion (EDM) to ban foie gras sales in the UK.
The group People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has applauded Mr Leigh's "compassion for animals and progressive stance."
The MP joins the growing opposition to foie gras, which is produced by violently force-feeding ducks and geese.
Mr Leigh has added his name to EDM 1247, which calls for the ban. PETA supporters across the UK are encouraging their MPs to sign on to this.
