Indonesia's oil minister said on Tuesday that if talks with Exxon Mobil over the Natuna D-Alpha gas field fail, the government could either give the project to state oil firm Pertamina or reopen bidding.

Last month, an official at Indonesia's energy watchdog BP Migas said talks over the disputed Natuna gas block, which is now controlled by the US company, had halted due to a disagreement over how to split the gas produced.

"We want [a production] split of 65% or 60% for the government, and 35% or 40% to Exxon Mobil," Purnomo Yusgiantoro told reporters on Tuesday.
