Take South Africa's current political environment, for instance, particularly the brouhaha about who is likely to be the ANC's next president after the party's conference in December.
The comrades are reportedly split on the issue, one camp falling into line behind the incumbent president, Thabo Mbeki, or his anointed successor, and another behind Jacob Zuma, the party's deputy president.
