WEBSTER - Three members of a cleaning crew at Cranston Print Works Co. at Routes 12 and 16 were taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester Tuesday night after a hazardous materials incident.
Deputy Fire Chief Gordon B. Forrester said the accident happened about 7:30 p.m. in the print shop, when household cleaners being used to clean print machines mixed and chemically reacted with chemicals on the machines and created a 50-by-50-foot toxic cloud that caused respiratory problems for 10 people inside that part of the building.
