BOSTON -- The Rockies will make their first appearance in the World Series at venerable Fenway Park playing the Boston Red Sox, a charter member of the American League.
There may be stark historical differences between the 15-year-old Rockies and the tradition-rich Red Sox, who pummeled the Cleveland Indians 11-2 on Sunday in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. But in the Red Sox, the Rockies will square off with another team very familiar with win-or-else straits, with riding a postseason wave and, yes, some improbable good fortune with a season on the brink.
