A SCALE model of the Bell Rock Lighthouse dating from 1810 has been released by the Stevenson family and is set to go up for auction on November 28.
The model was presented by Robert Stevenson to his daughter but will now be sold in the Bonhams of London Scientific and Marine Works of Art Sale where it is expected to raise between [pounds sterling]1,500 and [pounds sterling]2,000.
Measuring 57 x 25.5cm and carved from a solid piece of red sandstone the model boasts a bronze base rim and lantern cupola, plus painted windows and a small bronze mariner standing in the elevated doorway. The whole model is mounted on a cast bronze reef base.
