KEY backers of ANC Deputy President Jacob Zuma have rejected the idea of a "compromise" candidate for the ANC president, saying their candidate was a "tried and tested" leader and suitable to lead the ANC after the December conference in Limpopo.
Addressing a rally at Zuma's home town, Nkandla, to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the ANC Youth League, the league and Cosatu leaders made it clear they were totally against the notion of a compromise candidate to stand ahead of Zuma and President Thabo Mbeki for the ANC presidency at the December congress.
A compromise candidate was being touted in ANC circles ...
