A large and imposing Beech tree, located at the eastern gable end of St Michael's Church, Church Lane, South Malling is in a dangerous condition and will have to be cut down in the very near future.
Lewes District Council's Tree & Landscape Officer has inspected the tree which is thought to be between 150 and 180 years old and found a combination of die-back of the canopy and the presence of rot at the base of the tree means that it is at risk of wind-throw.
Unfortunately there is no alternative other than complete removal.
