If nursing home administrators are feeling a growing sense of self-worth and accomplishment, it's a sign of the times
It will come as no surprise that long-term care is going through rapid and dramatic changes. Shifts in demography have increased the numbers of people expected to need long-term care during their lifetimes. While census projections predict that the population in this country will increase by 46% between 1995 and 2050, the number of people over 65 is expected to increase by 135% - and by 385% for those 85 and older.
The nature of care required is also changing as residents are coming to nursing homes with more serious and complex conditions. ...
