NEW YORK -- Like weeds growing in tiny cracks in pavement, oral bacteria is often difficult to remove from between teeth and under the gum line.
Suppliers, however, have come up with many innovations that encourage consumers to use floss and other interdental devices that provide superior removal of bacteria from hard-to-reach oral spaces.
Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G), for example, has expanded its best-selling Crest Glide brand of dental floss, offering versions that promise deep cleaning, provide extra comfort and resist shredding, as well as a version that slides easily between braces and bridges.
