FOOD manufacturersare misleadingconsumersby labelling cereals as 'gluten-free' when they actually contain the protein,marketing honey produced overseas as 'Irish-made', and passing off cheesesubstitute as real mozzarella on frozen pizzas.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland(FSAI)hascriticised manufacturers for selling cod pies that contained pollock instead,and found that a number of noodle products had been irradiatedbut that their makers failed to put this fact on the label.

Now the FSAI has accused companies of labelling their products with'misleading' and 'potentially fraudulent' information.
