The death of Lucy Irene Lahr at the hands of a hit-and-run driver Thursday night robbed the world of a dedicated advocate for social justice and human rights, friends and colleagues said Friday.
"It's going to be an incredible loss to the community," friend Jeanine Malito said. "She touched so many lives."
Lahr, 45, and her partner, Susan Dian Wehner, 44, were struck Thursday evening as they crossed East 13th Avenue at Hilyard Street in Eugene.
Lahr died at the scene. Wehner was in fair condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Friday.
