"An Orchestral Odyssey" is what the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is calling its concerts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Music Hall.
You'll know why when you hear the first bar of Richard Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra" -- well, maybe the fifth bar, when the trumpets come in.
The opening of Strauss' 1896 work -- known as the theme from "2001: A Space Odyssey" -- is one of the most familiar excerpts in classical music, but there's much more to Strauss' 30-minute tone poem, which will be led by guest conductor Eri Klas.
