While his teammates finished a crisp practice at Verizon Center yesterday following an off day, Washington Wizards forward/center Oleksiy Pecherov was getting used to his crutches.
Pecherov, who missed two of the Wizards' final three preseason games with a bruised quadriceps, sprained his right ankle earlier in the practice.
"Pump-fake drive" is how Wizards coach Eddie Jordan described the injury. "He tried to get to the basket and a guy was sliding with him. He just tripped over a leg on his first dribble."
Jordan said he did not know the extent of the 7-foot Pecherov's injury, but X-rays on the ankle were ...
