Planners have ducked out of taking a controversial decision on a replacement entrance for Leeds Grammar School - and called for an independent expert to advise them.
The move is without precedent, according to one member of the authority's plans panel.
The school has asked if it could be excused from building a replacement entrance, 70 metres north of the roundabout outside the school gates.
The entrance would be combined with traffic lights and road widening in a [pounds sterling]1.3m package meant to ease traffic congestion.
