DENVER - Maybe Mike Lowell should leave.
When you're standing on a baseball field clutching a World Series MVP trophy in the midst of being showered with deafening chants of "Re-sign Lowell!" from more than a thousand Red Sox fans, well, it can't really get much better.
"The coolest thing is that I'm instantly part of baseball history," Lowell said, deep in the postgame celebration. "It doesn't get better than that."
But the fact of the matter is, Lowell shouldn't leave. It was just that the big, bright neon sign defining the importance of the third baseman's presence just happened to be soaked with World Series ...
