Mike Timlin isn't sure if he will be returning to the Red Sox in 2008, but if his performance in Sunday's 4-3 World Series-clinching victory over the Colorado Rockies was his farewell, the 41-year-old reliever went out with a bang.
Timlin, who intends to play somewhere next season, replaced Manny Delcarmen with one out and a runner on first base in the seventh inning, with the Sox clinging to a 3-1 lead. With the potential tying run at the plate, he struck out Kaz Matsui and Troy Tulowitzki to stymie the Rockies. Afterward, Timlin fondly looked back at his five seasons with the club.
