A lithium-nickel alloy that achieves 40% higher capacity than the current industry standard cathode material in lithium-ion batteries has reportedly been developed by Tiax LLC, Boston, Mass. The unique crystal structure of the lithium-nickel allows the battery to deliver superior capacity, excellent safety, long cycle life, and high performance over a broad range of power and temperature.
