THE parents of Anthony Shepherd will today visit the graveside of their son to mark the first anniversary of his tragic death.
The 28-year-old died after being knocked from his 50cc Yamaha trials bike by a car, as he rode along Gainsborough Avenue, Whiteleas.
The driver, Mark Anderson, failed to stop, leaving Mr Shepherd to die of his injuries at the roadside.
Holding back the tears, his grieving parents paid tribute to their son, whose zest for life had touched the hearts of many in South Tyneside.
"That night is going to haunt us forever," said his father, who is also called Anthony.
