SAN DIEGO -- Wind-driven fires that raged for days in many areas of Southern California spared credit unions, their employees and their members, according to reports available at press time.

A total of 15 named fires raged across the region last week, six of which were in San Diego County. Despite reports of more than 950,000 California residents evacuated, and losses of more than 2,400 homes and businesses, as of Oct. 24 investigations by the Credit Union Journal and the California Credit Union League found no reports of damage to credit union branches, or losses to members' or employees' homes.
