BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has expanded its low-price generics program, adding birth control pills and medications for children.

In its first year the program offered drugs for $4, many for conditions common among older people, including hypertension, diabetes and heart ailments.

The initiative--which Wal-Mart says saved Americans more than $610 million in its first year--now covers drugs for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), fungal infections, ache and glaucoma.
