THE prosecution remains adamant that Fred van der Vyver killed his girlfriend Inge Lotz three years ago, claiming the brilliant 26-year-old actuary adapted his testimony to fill holes in the defence's case and was sometimes vague and contradictory in giving evidence.

Van der Vyver tried to paint a perfect relationship, contrary to evidence such as the letter Lotz wrote to him hours before her death, and his version of certain events contradicted those of other witnesses, Carine Teunissen, for the state, argued.
