LEFT - WINGERS are poised to stage a takeover bid within Birmingham Trades Council, it was revealed today.
The moderate leadership faces its first challenge for power in nine years - and half of the candidates for seats on its executive are from the extreme left, it was claimed.
There are virtually two candidates for each fo the 16 seats on the executive committee of the city's trade union "forum."
And candidates are being fielded in a bid to oust the president. West Midlands County Council Chairman, Councillor William Jarvis, and Vice President, leading Rover shop steward, Mr. Martin Kavanagh. It is believed to be the first challenge for top office in the Trades ...
