MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 13, 1995-- Matrix Pharmaceutical, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:MATX), announced today that it is conducting a Phase II clinical trial of its AccuSite(TM) injectable gel in patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) skin cancers.
Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common form of non-melanoma skin cancer, after basal cell cancer, and accounts for approximately 155,000 new cases annually in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin is often more aggressive clinically than basal cell cancer and presents a reasonable therapeutic target for local therapy with AccuSite(TM) injectable gel.
