DECATUR, Ala., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Trico Steel Company today announced that it has begun construction of a new, 2.2 million tons/year steel sheet mini-mill facility near the City of Decatur in Morgan County, Alabama. Trico Steel is a joint venture of The LTV Corporation (NYSE: LTV), Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd., and British Steel, plc. Construction of the $450 million facility will be completed in about 18 months and startup of the new plant will occur in early 1997. The company will employ approximately 300 people.
