DAVAO CITY, Nov 6 Asia Pulse - Twelve mining companies, some of them foreign-owned, are bidding for gold-rich Mt. Diwata in Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province, which was declared a mineral reservation area last year.
Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Davao officer-in-charge Engineer Edilberto Arreza said government opened Mt. Diwata to established mining companies and their foreign partners after the Supreme Court, in a decision dated June 23, 2006, declared 8,100 hectares in Mt. Diwata a mineral reservation area.
Arreza said the 8,100 hectares in Mt. Diwata, which is more commonly called Diwalwal, have already been subdivided into varying sizes.
