ABSTRACT: In this article, the authors discuss factors that contribute to increased risk of child maltreatment for children with disabilities and outline multidisciplinary prevention and intervention strategies that focus on partnerships with educators and child protection professionals. The authors discuss interventions related to the identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect, collaboration among education and child welfare systems and academic programs, and direct interventions with children and families. The authors advocate a multidisciplinary approach to the problem.
