A poppy collector from Walesby has chalked up half a century of collecting around her village.

Mary Hawbrook first started in 1957, when she was 35, and has collected every year since then - although now she has decided to call it a day.

Mary, who has lived in the village since she was 13, took over from her-mother-in-law, who collected in the village before her.

Originally she went round the village and surrounding area on foot but latterly has used a car. It is only since she broke her hip three years ago that she has had to have help from husband Arti.
