The Millennium Stadium has generated pounds 725m for the Welsh economy since it was built in 1999, a major report said yesterday. The figures prompted Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Roger Lewis to call on the Welsh Assembly Government and Cardiff County Council to provide more strategic thinking on attracting events to Wales.
And he said the rate burden on the Millennium Stadium was excessive and should be removed to "allow a proper level of investment to capitalise on its presence".
