Q We are questioning our process of saying RBC and WBC are present or absent and reporting the differential. Some feel this differential is invalid because there is no way to measure what it contained in the clot. What is the correct way, if any, to report irreplaceable clotted body fluids?
A In general, most laboratories recognize the irreplaceable nature of body-fluid specimens or, at the very least, the difficulty with which another sample may be obtained through subjecting the patient to another procedure.
