A HUGE effigy of Guy Fawkes was burned in Desertmartin on Monday night.
There was a good turnout for the event - believed to be the first of its kind in the Province - organised by the local Community Group.
The 18-foot high effigy was paraded along Main Street prior to being burned at a site off the Magherafelt Road.
Community group chairman, David Best described the event as a "celebration of our British Isles culture."
He said there had been a lot of interest, both local and from further afield, in the days leading up to the celebration.
