WORCESTER - The apparent runner-up in Tuesday's mayoral race will wait at least until the end of this week before deciding whether to ask for a recount.
Frederick C. Rushton, who appears to have fallen just short of overtaking Konstantina B. Lukes for the mayor's office, said yesterday he will not make a decision on pursuing a recount until the final tally of votes is recorded by the Election Commission on Friday afternoon.
According to unofficial results, Mr. Rushton is 105 votes behind Mrs. Lukes, who received 7,432 votes. Mr. Rushton received 7,327 votes, followed by Gary Rosen with 4,496 and William S. Coleman III ...
