The use of fireworks on Guy Fawkes Day should be banned because it has no relevance to South Africa.
This decision was taken yesterday by the eThekwini health, safety and social services cluster committee meeting at which it was decided to scrap November 5 from the list of days on which fireworks could be used.
Some councillors did not know how to pronounce it, let alone what it was about.
The committee also decided to do away with the stipulated times that fireworks could be used on the days when their use was permitted.
