Department that allows it to proceed with its $1.8 billion acquisition of Herndon, Va.-based Legent Corp.
Computer Associates announced the agreement yesterday and said that it would extend its offer to buy all outstanding Legent common stock for $47.95 per share in cash until midnight Monday. The markets reacted favorably to the news, boosting Computer Associates stock $2.25 on the New York Stock Exchange to close at $72.125. Legent, which employs about 400 in the Pittsburgh area, closed at $47.8125, up $2.6875, in Nasdaq trading.
