SAN FRANCISCO -- The Cosco Busan Oil Spill in San Francisco has not impacted Tomales Bay. Oysters and shellfish of Tomales Bay are healthy, clean and available for the holidays.
The Hog Island Oyster Company, has been closely monitoring Tomales Bay since news of the spill broke. "We are the front line," says Erik Schlagenhauf, Farm Manager, "Hog Island has the boats and the local knowledge of tides, currents and wind patterns. We have to be the first to know of any changes to this environment. Our oysters depend on excellent water quality and it is our role to help keep Tomales Bay healthy and pristine."
