Leading wicket-taker in the SuperSport Series this season, Dillon du Preez, a new-ball bowler, had to wait until the 158th over of his first innings in first-class cricket to claim his first wicket.
There was much satisfaction in the fact that his victim was West Indies star Shivnarine Chanderpaul, although Du Preez would have liked to dismiss him before he reached 245!
Du Preez, who leads the Diamond Eagles attack in a four-day game against the Cape Cobras at Newlands from tomorrow, made his first-class debut for Free State against the Windies in Bloemfontein in December 2003.
