After South Eugene had surrendered its lead and lost the game, the Axemen players could only watch in disbelief as Hood River Valley's players, coaches and fans stormed their field.
The sixth-ranked Eagles' raucous post-game celebration was certainly well-earned, if not completely improbable.
Down 3-0 with 26 minutes to play, Hood River Valley tied the game in regulation and outscored the Axemen 2-1 in the 20-minute overtime session to win 5-4 at South Eugene High School Tuesday night in a second-round game of the OSAA Class 6A playoffs.
