If Kershaw knives continues its current pace, Webster's dictionary will soon need to add another definition under the word "flash." Founded in Portland, Oregon by Pete Kershaw in 1974, the fledgling company quickly took root, thanks in part to the founder's many years working in the high ranks of an already well established cutlery manufacturer, Gerber Legendary Blades. Within four short years Kershaw was purchased by Kai Cutlery of Japan and the company built a strong reputation for itself over the following decades.
