ANC stalwart and former transport minister Mac Maharaj does not believe that a compromise candidate could be the answer to the ruling party's challenges brought about by the bitter succession battle.
Instead, Maharaj feels that "debate" on the controversial succession race between President Thabo Mbeki and ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma is good for the ANC and the country.
