Grantham Town chairman Roger Booth yesterday expressed some relief that the club can now concentrate on the league after they were knocked out of the last of the 'Mickey Mouse' competitions the previous night.

Mr Booth said: "We haven't had one of those Mickey Mouse cup competitions at home and it has been a bit of a nightmare.

"We've been playing twice a week and there's no revenue from those away cup games. Each match costs us hundreds of pounds."

Mr Booth praised the Gingerbreads' performance, despite them losing by the odd goal in three at Unibond Premier Ilkeston Town in the league cup, and described the mood at the club as 'buoyant'.
