TRAFFIC circles along Umhlanga Rocks Drive will be done away with and motorists can expect road lane increases in the area if Tongaat-Hulett agrees to a list of conditions governing plans to further develop the Ridge area.
Roads have been unable to cope with the increased traffic resulting from booming development, but Mtholephi Mthimkhulu, MEC for Agriculture and Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal, has ordered that the Umhlanga Ridgeside Development, which includes a R1. 3 billion Marriot International Hotel and Resort, may not go ahead without road upgrades taking place.
