HOW COINCIDENTAL IS this? As I write this piece, the Associated Press reports: "Oil prices hit record for seventh time in a row: Inventory drop, refinery woes to blame." Well, unfortunately, it is not very coincidental at all. Headlines like this have become typical here in the early years of the 21st century. It's becoming clear that the era of cheap energy appears to have gone out with the change of the millennium.
