At a recent seminar, Dr. Pamela Reid--a certified applied animal behaviorist--showed a video clip of two wolves competing over a carcass. One wolf had been dining on the kill, and the other wolf approached for his share. As the two adult wolves began threatening each another, two juveniles hanging out nearby quickly left, as they seemed to know what was coming.
Sure enough, a brief but vocal and visually frightening skirmish transpired. The wolf at the carcass grabbed the other by the throat, pinning him to the ground.
